Webber slams Ghee refusal to say who he voted for

Political newcomer Antony Ghee declined to say who he voted for in the last three presidential elections, and Jay Webber says it’s because he supported Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Speaking at the Passaic County Republican screening committee today, Ghee said as a soldier “it doesn’t matter who the president is.  I want him to succeed.”  He said he doesn’t serve the his commander in chief, but rather the nation.

“You can’t trust him,” Webber said, in a strong criticism of Ghee’s refusal to offer a clear answer in the first question of hid fledgling congressional campaign.  “He’s a liberal and he’s off to a terrible start.”

Webber, a five-term Assemblyman and former GOP State Chairman, says he voted for John McCain, Mitt Romney and Donald Trump.

Ghee, a hedge fund manager and Army Reserve officer, entered the race on Tuesday with the endorsement of the Essex and Passaic Republican county chairmen and most of the GOP municipal leaders from those counties.  Previously an unaffiliated voter, he registered as a Republican on Monday.

“I never voted the straight part line,” Ghee told the Passaic Republicans.

Webber and Ghee are seeking the 11th district seat of retiring Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen.  While others are mulling a campaign, they were the only two candidates to appear before the Passaic screening committee.
