Top Morris Dem says Bucco should fire Blood

The controversy over a local elected official referring to undocumented immigrants as raccoons has now become an issue in the 11th district congressional race.

Morris County Democratic Chairman Chip Robinson said that Anthony Bucco should drop Rick Blood from his congressional exploratory committee.

Bucco, an Assemblyman, had released Blood, the Republican Deputy Mayor of Mendham Township, as one of his exploratory committee members as he mulls a bid for the Republican nomination for Rodney Frelinghuysen’s open House seat.

Blood is under fire today for a Facebook post that refers to undocumented immigrants as “rabid, messy, mean raccoons” who have “overtaken” our country

“Such bigotry and hatred are completely unacceptable, particularly when coming from someone who has been trusted with representing thousands of people – people who believe that human beings, no matter who they are, should never be dehumanized,” a statement from the Morris County Democrats said.

The Morris County Democrats say that Blood should resign.  The Democratic statement indicated that Mendham residents will attend a Township Council meeting tonight to call for his resignation.
