Senate candidate says he’s staying in race

By David Wildstein, February 16 2018 11:26 am

U.S. Senate candidate Brian Goldberg says that a private meeting of Republican county chairs aimed at clearing the field for front-runner Bob Hugin, had the opposite effect on his candidacy.

“I’m more determined than ever to win the primary,” said Goldberg, a West Orange businessman who ran for Senate in 2014.  “I may be a long shot to win in November according to folks, but I’ve got the only shot to win in November. In New Jersey. In 2018.”

Goldberg’s reaction comes after party leaders suggested that candidates consider dropping out of the race if the convention and screening process fails to win them any organization lines.
