Robinson set to endorse Malinowski

By David Wildstein, February 14 2018 12:58 pm

Tom Malinowski is the favorite to win the Democratic organization line in Morris County, and is expected to receive the personal endorsement of Democratic County Chairman Chip Robinson in the next few days.  Sources say that a recent private meeting of Democratic municipal chairs — eight of the eleven local chairs in the 7th district are women — resulted in a consensus that Morris would go with Malinowski, a former Assistant U.S. Secretary of State under President Obama.

The Morris County Democratic convention is scheduled for February 27.

Malinowski has won conventions in Hunterdon and Warren counties.  His main rival, Linda Weber, has the organization lines in Somerset and Essex counties.  The timing of the Union County endorsement in the primary to pick a challenger to Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Clinton) is still undetermined.

UPDATE: An hour and nineteen minutes after the original post, Morris County Democratic Chairman Chip Robinson endorsed Malinowski.
