Murphy’s pick gets EDA job

The New Jersey Economic Development Commission today approved Gov. Phil Murphy’s choice of Tim Sullivan as Executive Director.

Labor leader Bill Mullen had initially opposed that Sullivan, who he said opposed prevailing wage expansion while serving as Gov. Dan Malloy’s deputy commissioner of Economic and Community Development.  Mullen said that Sullivan conspired with the Connecticut Department of Labor to find loopholes around federal labor laws that require local prevailing wages on public works projects — typically a deal-breaker for unions.
