Murphy sets Wednesday bill signing to restore Planned Parenthood funding

Gov. Phil Murphy will sign legislation that will restore funding to Planned Parenthood on Wednesday — the first bill he’ll sign as the Governor of New Jersey.  Murphy made that announcement on a Tele-Town Hall on Monday morning.  Murphy said he’ll make another announcement about women’s health at the bill signing.  Murphy said marks the end of an eight-year battle by Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck) and others to reverse former Gov. Chris Christie’s 2010 cuts.

Murphy also said he will continue to fight President Trump’s efforts to cut federal funding to Planned Parenthood and to family planning services.

“We will not relent.  We will not back down.  We will use every available means at our disposable to push back on this administration,” Murphy said.

Tristie Brooks, the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, praised Murphy for his leadership.
