U.S. Senator Bob Menendez has returned to his post as Ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and will be in line to chair the panel if Democrats regain control of the United States Senate. He had voluntarily left following his indictment in 2015; a federal judge ordered the indictment dismissed last week.
Menendez, who chaired the full committee from 2013 to 2015, has pledged to use the panel to hold President Donald Trump “accountable for its capricious and erratic approach to foreign policy.”
“Congress must asset its role in pursuing a robust American foreign policy that champions the values of democracy, peace, and the preservation of human rights around the globe,” Menendez said.
