MacArthur scores win with BPU action

Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) applauded the state Board of Public Utilities (BPU) order mandating utility companies to pass any savings from the new federal tax law onto consumers.

MacArthur called on the BPU to do exactly that a week earlier in a letter to the commissioners.

“Make no mistake, this savings on utility bills is a direct result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and will mean even more money in the pockets of middle class taxpayers in New Jersey,” MacArthur said.  “In voting for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, I voted to lower tax rates, double the standard deduction and child tax credit, preserve property tax deductions, and to make it easier for companies to invest in their employees and customers, and it’s great to see this good economic news continue for ratepayers in New Jersey.”
