Grossman will seek LoBiondo seat

Former Atlantic County Freeholder Seth Grossman, who challenged Gov. Chris Christie in the 2013 Republican gubernatorial primary, is entering the race for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district.

Grossman began his political career in 1986, when he was elected City Councilman in Atlantic City.  He ran for freeholder in 1988 and beat an incumbent in the GOP primary by one vote.  Along with Steve Lonegan, who is running for Congress in the 5th district, Grossman was a founder of the New Jersey chapter of Americans for Prosperity.

The House seat has been held by the Republicans since 1994, when Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Ventnor) replaced a retiring Democratic congressman.  Several Republicans are vying for the nomination, including Hirsh Singh, who dropped his U.S. Senate bid with assurances from party leaders that he will have a GOP organizational support in a run for the LoBiondo seat.
