DeCroce won’t run for Congress

Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce (R-Parsippany) will not be a candidate for Rodney Frelinghuysen’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018.

“Sadly, the amount of money required to run makes pursuing federal office prohibitive for nearly everyone.  Candidates spend more time asking for money than they do talking with voters.  Even worse, campaigns have become an exchange of nasty, partisan insults, as opposed to a substantive debate about how we can improve the country,” DeCroce said.   “A race to the bottom where one candidate ultimately wins, but voters and taxpayers lose.”

DeCroce said people from both parties urged her to run.

“Public service has been an integral part of my life, and being able to represent this region in Congress would be a high honor,” said DeCroce.  “I will continue to do my best to work across party lines and make things better here at home, while staying true to my conservative principles of lower taxes, smaller government, individual freedom and personal responsibility.”
