Beson endorses Welle for Congress

By David Wildstein, February 03 2018 1:37 pm

Democratic congressional candidate Josh Welle has picked up the endorsement of Ocean Township Democratic Municipal Chairman Mike Beson.

“We need somebody that has served us on the front lines.  We have to win November, and this guy can do it,” said Beson, a former Mayor of Neptune.  “I endorse Josh Welle for Congress.”

Welle is one of three Democrats seeking the nod to challenge nineteen-term Rep. Chris Smith (R-Hamilton).

Beson is a seasoned political operative with strong ties to the party leaders and progressive activists.  In 2004, he ran Howard Dean’s New Jersey presidential campaign — he was part of the Dean campaign almost two years before before  Gov. Jim McGreevey and much of the state Democratic establishment came aboard.  He was also an early backer of Gov. Phil Murphy and a close ally of Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Long Branch).
