State Sen. Jefferson Van Drew (D-Dennis)

Van Drew skips progressive forum

The front runner for the Democratic nomination for Congress is skipping a candidate’s forum sponsored by three grass-roots progressive groups.

Event organizers say that State Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis) declined an invitation to attend.

Three Democrats — Tanzie Youngblood, Sean Thom and William Cunningham – will be participating in the forum, at 2PM Sunday at Stockton University.

The South Jersey Women for Progressive Change will endorse a candidate to replace retiring twelve-term Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo.  Van Drew, who is a right of center Democrat, probably was looking to avoid a loss in a grass roots vote.

The other sponsors are Together New Jersey (ATNJ) and the Richard Stockton College Democrats.

  1. Anyone know if there’s a video of the forum available?
It’s not on Tanzie’s website. Can’t find it on YouTube.
    Thanks.
