State Sen. Brian Stack (D-Hudson) has been named Chairman of the Senate Legislative Oversight Committee. Senate President Steve Sweeney picked the influential Hudson County Democrat to replace Bob Gordon (D-Bergen), who now chairs the Senate Transportation Committee.
Stack is also the Vice Chairman of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, and has seats on Judiciary and Community & Urban Affairs.
He was in the Assembly for four years before winning a State Senate seat in 2007. He replaced Majority Leader Bernard Kenny, who did not seek re-election.
Stack has been the Mayor of Union City since 2000. He served as a Union City Commissioner from 1997 to 1998, and as a Hudson County Freeholder from 1998 to 2004.
