State Sen. Troy Singleton (D-Burlington) has a seat on the powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee. It helps that he is a strong political ally of Senate President Steve Sweeney.
He was also named Vice Chairman of the Senate Economic Growth Committee, and a member of the Legislative Oversight Committee.
Singleton was overwhelmingly elected to the Senate last fall following the retirement of six-term Republican Diane Allen. An official with the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, Singleton served six years in the State Assembly. He is the first Democrat to win a Burlington County State Senate seat since John Casey in 1993.
