Gov.-elect Phil Murphy has picked veteran Democratic communications operative Derek Roseman as his chief speechwriter.

Derek Roseman was part of the Democratic communications team in the State Assembly, and then in the State Senate as a top aide to Steve Sweeney.  He has spent time as a government and campaign spokesman.   He was the spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign before joining Murphy.

He began his political career in 1996 in the press office of U.S. Senator Tom Daschle.  He was elected to the Lambertville Board of Education in 2007 and won a seat on the South Hunterdon Regional School District in 2014.

  1. Derek Roseman’s cousin Stuart Roseman, z’l, died in Spring of last year, way too soon. He briefly played bass for The Lilacs and was a very good guy.
