Rodney forces Dems to hit reset

By David Wildstein, January 29 2018 12:19 pm

Mikie Sherrill and Tamara Harris, the two Democrats running in New Jersey 11, are suddenly facing a brand new campaign.  They can throw all the Frelinghuysen opposition research away, and now face a contest for an open seat in a district that still leans Republican.  Donald Trump just narrowly carried the 11th, but Mitt Romney won it by six points in 2012.  The district has nearly 11,000 more Republicans than Democrats.    The race is still a Toss-Up, but the longtime incumbent’s relatively late retirement announcement pushes the reset button on the race.  This is the type of contest where the Republican incumbent was probably not the strongest candidate.
