Murphy swears in Hudson officials

By David Wildstein, January 18 2018 10:46 am

Gov. Phil Murphy was in Jersey City this morning to swear in Hudson County Clerk Junior Maldonado and Freeholder Anthony Romano.

Maldonado is a former Jersey City Councilman who was unseated by insurgent Steve Fulop in 2005.  They have since come to an arrangement, and Fulop backed Maldonado’s bid for County Clerk last year.  Romano had run for both re-election to the Board of Freeholders and for Mayor of Hoboken; he lost the mayoral race to Ravi Bhalla, who has already emerged as a strong Murphy ally.
