Assemblyman Raj Mukherji (D-Jersey City), a 33-year-old rising star in New Jersey politics, is the new Assembly Majority Whip. He was newly-installed Speaker Craig Coughlin’s pick, replacing Herbert Conaway (D-Burlington).
Mukherj is a former Deputy Mayor of Jersey City who was elected to the Assembly in 2013. A lawyer and ex-Marine, he also chaired the Jersey City Housing Authority.
