Judge dismisses seven counts of Menendez indictment

POLITCO New Jersey is reporting that a judge has thrown out seven of the eighteen counts in the Justice Department’s case against U.S. Senator Bob Menendez and his close friend, Salomon Melgen.

“A rational juror could not find that Menendez and Melgen were aware of the terms of the alleged quid quo,” said U.S. District Court Judge William Walls.

Walls also reiterated that he will not be the judge at the retrial.
