Jon Corzine, defeated for a second term by Chris Christie in the 2009 gubernatorial election, left office with a 34%-56% job approval rating in a January 2010 Quinnipiac University poll. Nearly six in ten New Jerseyans viewed Corzine’s term as a failure, while 32% called it a success.
Christie’s approvals were at 33%-27% when he took office eight years ago. 63% of the state were optimistic that Christie would do well, while 30% said they were pessimistic. He leaves office with a 19% approval rating, according to a Rutgers-Eagleton poll released this morning.
Richard Codey, who served as Governor from November 2004 to January 2006, returned to his State Senate seat with a statewide approval rating of 71%. Just 10% of New Jersey disapproved. Those numbers come from a Quinnipiac poll taken in December 2006.
A Quinnipiac poll conducted during the final days of Jim McGreevey’s administration in 2014 gave him an approval rating of 44%-47%. Those numbers were better than they’d been for him for much of the year.
Christine Todd Whitman departed in early 2001 to join the Bush cabinet with a 56%-35% approval rating, according to a Quinnipiac poll released in February.
