Ducey won’t run for Congress

By David Wildstein, January 19 2018 1:22 am

Brick Mayor John Ducey has decided against a bid for Congress against Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River), according to a source with knowledge of the decision.

There had been speculation in recent weeks that Ducey would enter the race.  He was re-elected mayor last year with 67% in a predominately Republican town — the second largest municipality in the 3rd district.  Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop had been urging Ducey to run, and had pledged his support.

The front runner has been Andy Kim, a former Obama White House official who has raised over $600,000 so far.  Kim received the endorsement of former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough — a clear signal that the former Obama team is ready to help his bid to oust the two-term incumbent.
