Christie’s guy pushing Myers

The buzz on Morris County Freeholder Christine Myers as a possible Republican candidate for Rodney Frelinghuysen’s congressional seat appears to be coming directly from former Gov. Chris Christie’s wing of the Republican party.  Christie’s best friend, Republican National Committeeman Bill Palatucci, has called Republican insiders in Washington and New Jersey on behalf of Myers.

Myers is a close family friend of the Christie family.

Last December, the Trump administration named Myers to serve as regional advocate for the U.S. Small Business Administration.  She told the Daily Record that she would finish her term as freeholder but would not seek re-election to a second term in 2018.  To run for Congress, Myers would need to resign from that post.

Democrats are likely to run a woman in the 11th district — Mikie Sherrill and Tamara Harris are the leading candidates – and some Republicans believe the GOP should do the same.
