Brown gets casino committee post

State Sen. Chris Brown (R-Atlantic) has received a committee assignment of significant importance to his Atlantic City-based district: a seat on the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation panel.

Brown was also assigned to the Senate Higher Education Committee.

After three terms in the Assembly, Brown was elected to the Senate last fall.  He defeated incumbent Colin Bell, who had been appointed following the death of Jim Whelan.  The last Republican to win the Atlantic County Senate seat was Bill Gormley in 2003.
