Booker erupts at Homeland Secretary

By David Wildstein, January 16 2018 4:06 pm

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker ripped apart the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security today in his first meeting as a new member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Booker was angered by Kirstjen Nielsen’s statements that she didn’t hear President Trump refer to some African nations at “shitholes,” despite being present in the room.

“The commander in chief, in an Oval Office meeting, referring to people from African countries and Haitians with the most vile and vulgar language — that language festers,” Booker told Nielsen at a subcommittee hearing. “When ignorance and bigotry is alive with power, it’s a dangerous force in our country. Your silence and your amnesia is complicity.”
