At Women’s March, First Lady’s a hit

In a demonstration of the valuable partnership between the new Governor and First Lady of New Jersey, Tammy Murphy rallied the Democratic base in her comments at today’s Women’s March in Morristown.

“For decades, women activists have devoted their lives to exposing the oppression they face as they move about their lives, often at great personal risk,” Murphy said. “From Rosa Parks to Tarana Burke, we stand here today on the shoulders of giants.”

On the first anniversary of the Trump presidency, the First Lady was on message for this audience – as her husband was in earlier remarks.

“We will not let our values be compromised by Donald Trump or anyone else,” she said.

Murphy said that the stories of the MeToo movement have “humbled the powerful and empowered the forgotten.”

“But by speaking out we can find our strength and ensure our lives are not defined by these experiences, but that we define it. You will never be alone among this tremendous sisterhood,” the First Lady said.
